How to Print talk@tee T-shirt Designs using free GIMP Software | Let your tees do the talkin' | T Shirt Design T Shirt Design | Couple Shirts | Printing | Statement Shirts

This tutorial is intended for the GIMP software users.  For those who do not have the Adobe Photoshop installed, we have provided here a download link for the free GIMP software, that you can use as an image editing tool.

In this tutorial, we will help you print our T-shirt designs efficiently by adding bleeds on the T-shirt design, thus creating a dieline in order to avoid the white spaces or blank areas on the T-shirt design.

  1. Open the .PNG file on the GIMP software application. (I have chosen to open the desktop here because it is where I have saved the file.)

  1. On the Layers panel, right-click on the layer then select "Alpha to Selection".

  1. On the Menu tab, click on "Select" then choose "Grow"

  1. Adjust the size of the selection enough to cover the white spaces on the design. you can either choose the pixel or inches settings. (For this procedure, I have chosen the inches settings and adjusted it to 0.5 inches.)

  1. Create a new layer by clicking on the layer panel then choose "New Layer."

  1. Change the foreground color (FG color) by clicking on the color box, then click on the eyedropper, then pick a color on the color chart or any color similar to the shirt where it would be pressed on.

  1. Fill with FG Color, then arrange the layers by dragging the "New Layer" below the "Background" layer.

  1. Right click on the image, choose "select", then click "none".

  1. Merge the layers. Right click on the Layers panel, and click merge down.Note: you must make sure that you have selected the right color before merging.

  1. Select the "Free Select Tool" then trace the logo and the color chart — then hit delete.

  1. Deselect the selection and remove the excess color with the eraser tool to make it neat.

  1. Resize the design to match the shirt size.

  1. The design can now be printed.

Note: There is no need to follow everything if you will print the design on a white shirt. All you have to do is to invert the design as it would appear on a mirror,  proceed directly to Step #10 and then print the design. If you're unsure of the outcome of the printout, you can print first on an ordinary bond paper before printing on the transfer paper.
